Increased Law Enforcement along US 54 this week

Beginning on Monday, April 1, 2019, and continuing through Monday, April 15, 2019, travelers can expect increased law enforcement presence on U.S. 54 in eastern Sedgwick County.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office will be enforcing traffic laws as part of a safety campaign to reduce traffic accidents.

Law enforcement will be specifically looking for people speeding, following too close, failing to signal, and failing to obey a traffic control device (stop signs and traffic lights).  Law enforcement will also be looking for drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol.

This activity is supported by a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).

The purpose of this campaign is simple:  to drastically reduce the number of preventable deaths and injuries that occur when drivers and passengers are involved in traffic crashes.  Drivers can expect strict enforcement of all traffic laws.
