A 3rd-grader in Augusta has a 3D printed hand thanks to a Wichita State engineering major.
Chase Rawlings was born without a fully developed left hand. His mother reached out to Wichita State for help after hearing about some the projects the school has been involved in.
Engineering major Chelsea Sewell and Brian Brown, director of the Robotics and Automation Lab at WSU, got together to think about what they could do for Chase.
The first hand made for Chase allows him to flex his arm and clench the 3D printed fist. Sewell says she plans on improving the design to allow for more functionality.
