Hoisington man sentenced in child’s death

A Hoisington man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for the death of his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter.

26-year-old Chaz Stephens pleaded guilty in April to second degree intentional murder.   The body of two-year-old Iviona Lewis was found in March, 2018 northwest of Hoisington after being reported missing.

Barton County district judge Mike Keeley sentenced Stephens on Monday, giving him a total of 253 months in prison.  The case was prosecuted by the Kansas attorney general’s office after an investigation by the KBI, Hoisington police and the Barton County sheriff’s office.
