A Wichita police bomb squad was called to Winfield Thursday afternoon to remove a suspicious device that was found in a camper on the Cowley County Fairgrounds.
Winfield police were on the scene for much of the day, and the Wichita bomb squad arrived in the afternoon to render the device safe. Police are still investigating and no arrests have been made. No other details have been released on the device.
The discovery was made on the first day of the Cowley County Fair, which runs through August 5th.
