More parking planned for northeast Wichita sports complex

The Wichita city council has approved funding for a new parking lot at the Stryker Multi-Sport Complex near K-96 and Greenwich Road.

City engineer Gary Janzen told council members Tuesday that there is a strain on parking from increased activities with soccer and high school football as well as other events at the complex.   He said a new parking lot would have 197 stalls and it would connect to an entrance from Greenwich Road.   Janzen said the plan is to get the lot constructed as soon as possible and it should be ready by November.

The city council approved $700,000 from capital improvement funds, and part of that funding would be used for the parking lot.   The rest would be used for other improvements at the complex that will be brought to the council for consideration at a later time.
