Reno County sheriff announces retirement

Reno County sheriff Randy Henderson issued a statement Tuesday saying he will be retiring on December 27th.

Henderson said it’s time for him to give more time to his family, which has supported him throughout his 43 years in law enforcement.

Here is his full statement:

Recently we have all been reminded about how precious life is. After over 43 years in Law Enforcement, I feel it is time for me to give more time to my family. Today, I announce that I will be retiring on December 27th, 2019. I have had a blessed career,  being mentored by some outstanding officers. I have been fortunate to have the greatest staff around me that have supported me and made my life/job pretty easy.

My blood family has always stood behind me, supporting me in good times and bad. It is now time for me giving back to them. My 98 year old mother needs more of my time, I have much work to do around our house (make momma happy), and I never want to miss my grandkids sporting or school events again (makes me happy).

I want to thank each one of you for my support and it has been a pleasure working with you.

I have been in contact with Rudy Rodriguez, the Republican Chair Person since this will kick in a special appointment by the Republican Party. I have also been in contact with Jenna Fager and Donna Patton at the Clerks Office. This process should not burden Reno County in any financial way.

Randy Henderson

Sheriff, Reno Co KS
