A California man who was caught in Kansas while transporting 50 pounds of methamphetamine has been sentenced to 6 years in federal prison.

36-year-old Jesus Antonio Garcia-Maldonado of Panorama City, Calif. pleaded guilty in federal court in Wichita to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.  In his plea, he admitted that he was stopped for speeding near Minneola in Clark County.

A search of his vehicle by law enforcement found wrapped packages under seats and behind a rear quarter panel, containing approximately 50 pounds of meth.  Garcia-Maldonado said he was transporting the drugs from San Diego to Minnesota.
