Kansas City area to issue stay at home order

Most COVID-19 cases in Kansas are in the Kansas City area, and local government agreed to come together to fight community spread.

Starting Tuesday, March 24, area residents will be told to stay at home as much as possible for the next 30 days. This will not keep people from being able to go to grocery stores and pharmacies, and restaurants will stay open to offer carryout and drive-thru service. First responders will have to report to work as normal. More information on essential jobs and activities can be found below.

Proposed Essential Activities-Draft

This effort is a cooperative measure between Jackson County, Missouri; Johnson County, Kansas; Kansas City, Missouri, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas. Specifics on what this will mean for area residents should be addressed in a conference at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. That will be live on the Johnson County Government’s Facebook page. A link has been provided below.
