Kansas tops 1,300 coronavirus cases

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment reported 1,337 cases of the COVID-19 virus on Sunday.   Only one additional death was reported statewide for a total of 56.

The new numbers have 298 hospitalizations and 11, 916 negative tests statewide.

Sedgwick County is reporting 194 cases of coronavirus, although KDHE is reporting 196.  County officials have said that the state has counted two duplicate cases.   66 people in Sedgwick County have recovered from the virus, and almost 1,400 residents in the county have been tested.  No new deaths have been reported in Sedgwick County or the surrounding counties.

The highest numbers of cases continue to be in northeast Kansas.  Johnson County has 304 cases, Wyandotte County has 332 and Leavenworth County has 85.   Shawnee County is reporting 74 cases and Douglas County has 39.
