The Sedgwick County Commission voted not to make mask use mandatory, but Wichita may be putting its own mask requirement into effect.
Under the county decision, Governor Laura Kelly’s mask order doesn’t have any power, but individual businesses can still require customers to wear masks. If the Wichita City Council votes to make masks mandatory, businesses would then have to enforce the city’s order.
Wichita City Council members will meet at 2 p.m. today to go over the mask issue and decide whether or not to put a mask mandate in place. The city is asking for input on the issue, and emails can be sent to councilmeeting@wichita.gov. These messages will have to be in by noon to be considered during the meeting.
