Harvey County extends mask order

Harvey County Commissioners voted to extend a mask order through September 15.

“We really appreciate everyone that is doing their part to promote community public health by wearing a face mask,” said Dr. Doyle Detweiler, the public health officer for Harvey County. “Along with social distancing and good hand hygiene, face masks are an important preventative measure. We have to do these steps to keep schools and businesses open moving forward.”

Commissioners voted to put a mask order in place on July 14, and this order expired August 11. This is just an extension of the previous order, so no requirements or exemptions have changed.

Commissioners also voted to remain in the Phase Out guidance of the Harvey County Health Reopening Plan. This does not restrict gatherings but social distancing is still being encouraged.

Harvey County is currently reporting 34 active cases of COVID-19.
