Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident that happened Saturday in southwest Wichita.
Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 25-hundred block of West Wildwood Lane just after noon Saturday. That’s in a neighborhood near 31st Street South and Meridian. Police said the suspect and a 20-year-old man got into a fight over property, and the suspect left and returned with a gun. He fired a shot but the 20-year-old man was not hit or injured. The younger man grabbed a gun and returned fire, and the suspect ran from the apartment.
Police found the gunman in a nearby apartment building and found that he had a gunshot wound to his foot. He was treated and released at a hospital and then arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm.
This was one of two shooting incidents that happened around noon on Saturday. In the other incident, one person was injured in a shooting near 19th and Grove. No details have been released.
