More details released on weekend shooting incident in southwest Wichita

Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a shooting incident that happened Saturday in southwest Wichita.

Officers were called to an apartment complex in the 25-hundred block of West Wildwood Lane just after noon Saturday.  That’s in a neighborhood near 31st Street South and Meridian.   Police said the suspect and a 20-year-old man got into a fight over property, and the suspect left and returned with a gun.  He fired a shot but the 20-year-old man was not hit or injured.  The younger man grabbed a gun and returned fire, and the suspect ran from the apartment.

Police found the gunman in a nearby apartment building and found that he had a gunshot wound to his foot.  He was treated and released at a hospital and then arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm.

This was one of two shooting incidents that happened around noon on Saturday.   In the other incident, one person was injured in a shooting near 19th and Grove.  No details have been released.
