Friends University Fine Arts is hosting their first ever Stand-Out Jazz Soloist Competition.
This is for high school juniors and seniors, and the winner will get an $80,000 scholarship package to attend Friends University over four years. Top performers on saxophone, trumpet, trombone, bass, piano, guitar, and drums will get scholarship packages worth $64,000.
To take part in the competition, students will need to video themselves performing then upload and share the video.
“In these pandemic times, I have been overjoyed to see so many incredible high school students take to social media to connect and perform. We wanted to create a way to support them and allow these students to reach their full potential with a degree from Friends University,” said Director of Jazz Studies, Dr. Robert Brooks.
Videos must be uploaded by January 15, 2021. Get all the details on the competition below.
