The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is issuing new COVID guidelines for people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19. This follows updated guidance from the CDC.

Two weeks after getting your final dose of a COVID vaccine, the KDHE says its ok to gather privately with small groups of other people who have been vaccinated. In these cases, masks and social distancing are not necessary. Officials say it’s also OK for vaccinated people to gather with unvaccinated people from a single household, as long as they are are not at a high risk for developing a severe case of COVID.

“These changes are an important step in moving forward,” Dr. Lee Norman, KDHE Secretary, said. “This will allow grandparents to socialize with families, friends and neighbors to gather.”

These changes only apply to private settings. Vaccinated people are still urged to follow all public health measures.

So far, the CDC has not given any new guidance for people who have had COVID and recovered.
