Governor Kelly creates task force to look at disparities in COVID-19 vaccination

Governor Kelly has created a task force to promote equitable distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine in Kansas.    The COVID-19 Vaccine Equity Taskforce had its first meeting on April 14th, and it will involve leaders of various medical and community organizations and agencies.

The governor said Black, Hispanic and Native American populations are getting the vaccine at a significantly lower rate than white Kansans.   She said it’s an issue that affects large and small communities across the state, and it has become an urgent issue.    She said the task force can look at issues of access, transportation, language barriers, and hesitancy to receive the vaccine.

The task force will be working on information and messages that can help Kansas residents who have questions about the vaccine.
