Ulysses teen arrested for fatal park shooting

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested for the fatal shooting of another teen at a park in Ulysses.

The KBI reports the teen was arrested Thursday, and is charged with second-degree murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and possession of stolen property. He’s been sent to a juvenile detention facility in Garden City.

14-year-old Christopher Garcia was fatally shot at a park on April 28. Police said there was a gathering of teenagers, and someone brought a gun that fired at some point. Garcia was flown to a Wichita hospital after the shooting, where he remained in critical condition for a couple days before he passed away.  Officials have not said if the shooting was accidental of intentional.

The KBI says they are not releasing any more information at this time.
