The Wichita Fire Department said improperly disposed of fireworks were the cause of a house fire in the 2400 block of South Bonn (Near Pawnee and Meridian) on July 4th.
Someone has disposed of the fireworks into a trash can without dousing them in water, and then rolled the trash into the garage where it caught fire.
While nobody was injured in the fire, the Fire Department said a cat was killed and the damage is estimated to be around $100,000.
According to fire crews, there were several calls on July 4th regarding burning trash cans due to improperly disposed of fireworks.
