Sedgwick County falls in COVID rankings despite improving numbers

Latest county rankings based on COVID data put Sedgwick County at 44th. That is a lower rank despite improving numbers.

New data from Monday shows Sedgwick County with a vaccination rate of 51%. The COVID case rate was also a little lower, down from 69 to 65 cases per 100-thousand people. When the state began ranking counties, Sedgwick started at 25th.

The Kansas Health Department puts out new rankings three times a week, that look at a county’s vaccination, case, and testing rates. Each metric is ranked individually, them combined for an overall score.

Brown County is ranked 1st, with a vaccination rate of 62%, a case rate of 21, and testing rate 842.

Butler County is ranked 55th, Harvey County at 26th, Kingman at 65th, Reno at 38th, and Sumner at 65th.
