Wichita man charged in fatal stabbing

A Wichita man has been charged with first degree murder for a fatal stabbing incident at a west side home.

60-year-old James Shaw made his first appearance in Sedgwick County District Court, where his bond was set at $300,000.  His next court hearing is scheduled for October 7th.

Shaw was arrested on September 21st after police found the body of 67-year-old Kurt Petersen at a home in the 100 block of North Glenn.   Police said the two men knew each other, but no information has been released on a motive for the stabbing.
