Police searching for suspect in fatal shooting at east Wichita hotel

Police searched a hotel in Park City Friday morning for a suspect in a fatal shooting, but he was not found.

Wichita police are asking for help from the public in finding 31-year-old Patricio Gomez.   He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Officers were called to a report of a shooting around 6:20 Thursday evening at a hotel in the 9100 block of East Corporate Hills.  They found 42-year-old Michael Martinez, who pronounced dead at the scene from several gunshot wounds.   Police said Gomez and a woman went to the hotel for an illegal drug transaction, and that led to a disturbance where  Gomez is accused of firing shots at Martinez.

Gomez and the woman got away in a black Cadillac Escalade, and the car was found Friday outside a hotel in Park City, near 53rd Street North and I-135.   A SWAT team was sent to the hotel, and two people were contacted by officers, but Gomez was not found.  Police seized the Cadillac.

Anyone with information on Gomez is urged to call 911, WPD detectives at 268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 267-2111, or the See Something Say Something hotline at 519-2282.
