Evergy submitted a proposal on Monday to the Kansas Corporation Commission to update its Transmission Delivery Charge tariff, which may result in a raise in electric rates.
The proposal submitted by the company estimates that on average, residential bills would see an increase of $4 annually, or 36-cents per month.
The group Kansans for Lower Electric Rates criticized the Evergy’s move, saying in a statement that this increase would bring in $20 million for the company, adding that the proposal is highly questionable amidst a rate moratorium.
