WSU adds 11 cities to its in-state tuition program

Wichita State University has announced the addition of 11 cities to its Shocker City Partnership, which allows eligible students from those cities to pay in-state tuition rates to attend WSU.

The new cities include Chicago; Colorado Springs and Pueblo in Colorado; Grand Island, Lincoln and Omaha in Nebraska; Des Moines and Ames in Iowa; and Fayetteville, Fort Smith and Little Rock in Arkansas.

The Partnership saves students an average of $9,300 a year, or more than $37,200 over four years of college attendance.    The in-state rates will be applicable for all eligible new and returning students from these areas beginning in the fall of 2022.

Dr. Carolyn Shaw, associate vice president of strategic enrollment management, said the new locations were strategically selected.   She said enrollment increases have shown that the Partnership is working and it helps provide talent to serve local industry and support growth of the Kansas economy.   She said as many as one third of out-of-state recent graduates stay in Kansas for employment opportunities after graduation.
