Police release more details on fatal shooting in south Wichita

Police continue to investigate a fatal weekend shooting that happened at a south Wichita home.

Officers were called to the 3800 block of East Roseberry, near Pawnee and Hillside, around 5 a.m. Saturday.  They found 31-year-old Javari Jones with several gunshot wounds. He died later at a hospital.

Police said Jones went into a home and confronted a 40-year-old man about a relationship with a woman.  An argument broke out and Jones fired several shots from a handgun, striking the other man in the upper chest.   The other man fired several shots that struck Jones, then he drove himself to a hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.

Police are still investigating and information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for a decision on charges.
