A Wichita man and his girlfriend have been arrested in connection with the death of a one-year-old boy.
Police were called to a child abuse report at a local hospital on Thursday. They were told that 1-year-old Lasiah Williams was brought to the hospital by a family member and guardian. The boy was unresponsive and he was pronounced dead after arrival.
Police found that Lasiah had been with his father and the father’s girlfriend for several days. A family member met the father in the 1600 block of South Oliver to exchange custody, and that family member realized a short time later that the boy was unresponsive. The family member and the boy’s legal guardian then took the boy to a hospital.
Police arrested the father and girlfriend, both 25 years of age, on charges of first degree murder and aggravated endangerment of a child. The investigation is continuing and information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
