Wichita police negotiators worked to get a man to surrender after locking himself in a McDonald’s bathroom.

Police were called to the restaurant at Douglas and Seneca, around 4:30 Monday afternoon. Officials say a 44-year-old man was experiencing a mental health crisis and was refusing to exit the bathroom. To make the man and everyone nearby was safe, the restaurant was cleared out and a perimeter was set up outside.

The man surrendered around 10:40 Monday night and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
