Wichita police arrested a Haysville man wanted in connection with a kidnapping case on Tuesday.
Officers responded to an abduction call around 1:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of E. Mt. Vernon. The suspect’s vehicle was tracked down in the area. When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, leading to a chase.
The 26-year-old suspect was eventually stopped at 10th Street and Madison and was taken into custody. The victim, a 33-year-old woman, is safe. She is described as the suspect’s girlfriend, and police said she was forced into a car by the suspect and another person.
Spaght Elementary School was also briefly placed on lockdown while officers searched for the suspect.
