This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kansas, and the National Weather Service will be involved in the annual statewide tornado drill.
The drill will be held at 10 a.m. and it will be a routine test on NOAA weather radio, like the test that is held each Wednesday.
Warning Coordination Meteorologist Chance Hayes with the NWS office in Wichita said this is the time to have a plan for taking shelter in case of a tornado or a severe storm with threats from hail, wind and lightning. Hayes said the tornado drill is a good time to practice that plan.
