Kansas State was unable to get a final shot and time ran out Saturday to give Florida Atlantic a 79-76 win over the Wildcats in the East Region final of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
The third-seeded Wildcats and 9th-seeded Owls battled back and forth for much of the game at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but the Owls went on a 15-1 run late to take the lead, and the Cats were unable to catch up. K-State’s Markquis Nowell finished with 30 points, 12 assists and five steals
Florida Atlantic will go to the Final Four in Houston as the lowest-remaining seed.
The Wildcats finish the season with a 26-10 record.
