Wichita Police Investigating After Shooting Injures 17-Year-Old Boy

The Wichita Police Department is investigating a shooting that seriously injured a 17-year-old male from Andover, KS.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Officers were dispatched to a local hospital for a walk-in shooting victim with a gunshot wound to his upper chest. The 17-year-old victim had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition.

Police said the incident happened in the parking of the 900 block of West Central Ave. The 17-year-old reportedly had a brief verbal interaction with an unidentified male, who later fired shots from a vehicle as he left the scene. Investigators said there were additional unidentified males in the vehicle with the suspect.

Police said the parking lot there were several juveniles in the parking lot at the time of the incident.

Officers used Flock and developed a suspect vehicle and tag, saying that more information will be released soon.
