UPDATE, 7/7/23:

Police arrested two 21-year-old Wichita men on 1st Degree Murder charges stemming from an investigation into the shooting death 16-year-old Elrecus Nolan in south Wichita on July 3rd.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting are ongoing.

Police are investigating a south Wichita shooting that left one person dead.

The shooting was reported around 10:30 Monday night, at a home near Mt. Vernon and Ellis, just west of Southeast Boulevard.   Police said a witness heard several gunshots and then saw a silver 2002 Ford Taurus slowly moving west on Mt. Vernon, hitting the curb and then stopping on the sidewalk.   Officers found 16-year-old Elrecus Nolan of Wichita with a gunshot wound to his upper body.   They provided medical help until EMS crews arrived, but Nolan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective are still looking into the circumstances of the shooting.  Anyone with information is urged to call detectives at 268-4407, Crime Stoppers at 267-2111 or the See Something Say Something hotline at 519-2282.
