A man who was shot by law enforcement officers during a chase last month in Pratt County is facing charges for bank robberies in Colorado.

The chase began on Highway 54 in Kingman County when Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and deputies chased a van that was reported stolen from Saline County.   They caught up to the van, but the driver rammed a Kingman County patrol car and continued west into Pratt County.    The van stopped in Pratt and a man jumped out and ran, while a 22-year-old woman was arrested.   The man then took over a pickup and continued west on Highway 54.   The pickup came to a stop and a Pratt County deputy fired several times, with one of the shots hitting the suspect in the arm.

The man was treated and released at a Wichita hospital and he and the woman, both from Colorado Springs, were booked into the Kingman County jail.

Colorado officials said the man, identified as Ulysses Parker,  is wanted for a bank robbery in Colorado Springs and he has been charged in two other bank robberies in that area.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has been looking into the officer-involved shooting that led to Parker’s arrest, and information will be presented to the Pratt County Attorney for review.
