A man convicted of fatally stabbing another man last summer in Wichita will spend almost nine years in prison.

A Sedgwick County judge sentenced 38-year-old Pedro Hernandez to a 107-month sentence for his role in the death of 30-year-old Shawn Gomez.

Police said the stabbing happened July 8th in the 2600 block of East Harry.  They said Hernandez and Gomez had been fighting, and then Gomez was stabbed in the chest.  He died at a hospital a short time later.    It’s not known what the men had been fighting about.
