Wichita police were involved in a standoff situation in a south side neighborhood late Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the 800 block of South San Pablo around 10:30, with a report that a man was having a mental health crisis.   The man was reported to have a handgun, and officers saw the man standing in the doorway holding a handgun.   They were able to talk him into setting the gun down and they were able to take him into custody without incident.   Police said the man did not make any threats during the incident.

Traffic was blocked on Lincoln between Governeour and Apache and people in the area were being advised to stay in their homes.   Police sent out word just before noon that the situation was peacefully resolved, and traffic was reopened in the area.
