Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has revealed five options for the next state license plate, and the process allowing Kansans to vote for their favorite design.

The options include the original blue and yellow design that was announced earlier, with four variations.  The designs were created by Mammoth Creative Company, a Kansas-based marketing firm, in a partnership with Kansas Tourism.   The five options align with the “To The Stars” phrase from the state motto and the guidelines that were previously announced to make sure that law enforcement officers and traffic systems can easily read the license plate number.   The state is moving from the embossed plates to a digitally-produced license plate process that will make numbers easier to read.

The designs include a lighter blue on the original plate design, a State of Kansas outline, and images of wheat and sunflowers.

Residents can go to the website KSPlates.kansas.gov to see the designs and vote on their favorite. The deadline will be 5 p.m. on Friday, December 15th.  The selected plate will be announced on Monday, December 18th.   The timeline for distributing the new plates will be changed due to the production process that will need to be performed after the new design is selected.
