The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office said a two-vehicle crash closed a portion of Highway 196 west of Whitewater.
The crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday and it involved a car and a semi near East Lake Road, in eastern Harvey County. The driver of the car had serious injuries while the truck driver was not hurt.
The highway was closed for a short time after the crash.
Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Owen posted a photo of the wrecked car on social media (shown above), and he said it’s a reminder to slow down and drive safely in winter weather.
