Wichita Police detective diagnosed with pancreatic cancer dies

A Wichita Police detective who was diagnosed with aggressive pancreatic cancer in January has died.

The Matt Young Cancer Crusaders page says Detective Young died peacefully Tuesday morning.  Services are tentatively scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Christian Church in Wichita.

In March, Wichita Police and the Honor Adversis Foundation held a benefit concert for Young and his family.  The benefit raised over $55,000.

Donations are still being accepted to help support Young’s wife and children.  To donate or for more information, click here.
