Sedgwick County’s Emergency Communications Advisory Board will hold a special meeting Tuesday to look at issues surrounding the 911 response to a fatal October fire in Wichita.
The board will meet at 1 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Office. The International Association of Firefighters Local 135 said that crews were not told of someone trapped in a unit at the Brookhollow Apartments near Central and Rock Road, as they arrived on the scene on October 13th. 22-year-old Paoly Bedeski died in the fire.
The union is calling for a third-party review of the response to the fire. Sedgwick County Commissioners issued a statement expressing confidence in the 911 system and supporting a third-party review. Commissioners have set aside a place on the agenda in their regular meeting Wednesday to respond to any action recommended by the advisory board.
